A downloadable zine

"Once a witch reaches the age of 15 she goes on a big quest exploring a ruin of old days. This rite of passage can be quite dangerous, so not every girl makes it to a full grown witch.

The sun rising above the hills, Teofina “Toffy” Tumbeldrum climbs down from the back of her mother. Her frail figure shakes a little in fear of what may come, but her oversized old clothes can’t hide it."

You mix the tarot, wondering what fate will bring you today. You draw a card, it shows a man pointing a staff into the air and with the other hand to the ground. The book tells you to draw four other cards… If you are like me, then you have no clue of tarot and it’s meaning. But the pictures are colorful and the book tells you how to interpret them. They tell a story… in this case the story of our young witch Teofina “Toffy” Tumbledrum, 15 years young, whose rite of passage is a quest to explore one of the ruins of old times. Every card of the major arcana is a new place. New treasures? Or new dangers that await her?

Find out and read on! This is an actual play of “Ruin Explorer” a solo journaling RPG by Gustavo Manchae. Solo journaling RPGs are a mix between the randomness of tabletop rpg and the contemplative nature of creative writing to random prompts. At least that’s how I understand them. It is my first time playing one… but I enjoyed it a lot. And I hope you will enjoy this zine here too.

Really liked to read a playthrough of a solo game and see what others come up with as a story. Especially seeing the art was quite inspirational to try something like this as well.
